How to Honour Your Sensitivity?

Are you the sensitive one?

There’s a kind of wisdom that doesn’t shout.
It doesn’t compete.
It doesn’t force.

It lives in your most sensitive places - quiet, nuanced, often overlooked.
And yet, it carries some of your deepest truths.

In tonight’s Monday at the Well – Wisdom Drop-In, we turned gently toward these parts.
The ones we often override. The parts we rush past.
The sensitive one within.

We began with a simple somatic ritual: rubbing our hands to awaken sensation, breathing presence into the body, and feeling the subtle energy between our palms. A tingling. A warmth. A glowing ball. This practice requires presence and sensitivity, curiosity and joyful wonder.
We then offered this energy inward - to places needing care or attention.

And from that space of softness, we opened a deeper inquiry:

What is the wisdom of our sensitive parts?

Because for many of us, sensitivity has been misunderstood.

Maybe you’ve been the sensitive one - told you’re too much, too emotional, too reactive.
Or maybe your sensitivity shows up quietly - hidden beneath strength, busyness, or care-taking.

Often, we internalise the world’s discomfort with sensitivity.
We judge it. Try to toughen it.
Sometimes, we even bully our sensitive parts - overriding their needs, forcing resilience, shutting them down in the name of “being strong.”

But what if we’ve misunderstood their purpose?

Sensitivity isn’t a weakness.
It’s perception. Intuition. Emotional intelligence.
It’s the part of us that feels before we know, and knows without explanation.
And when we ignore it, something vital goes unheard.

Because if we don’t listen to our sensitive parts - who will?

Watch a 3-minute extract from our live session below.

In tonight’s circle, we journaled with the prompt:

“If there’s a sensitive part in me… what do you want me to know?”

What emerged in our circle was tender, truthful, and deeply human:

  • “Sensitivity is a gift, yet it can ache when it's not safe to be shared.”

  • “Feeling ‘too much’ is often a sign something needs more space. When emotions are pushed down, they overflow; given room, they become simply themselves - no longer too much.”

  • “Many of us want to shine and be seen, yet we dim our light when visibility feels uncomfortable. Part of the work is learning to receive: to accept a compliment, to let our light be witnessed without shrinking.”

  • “A living question: What if sensitivity moved to the forefront of  y being? What if I let it lead?”

The thread through it all was clear:
🌿 Sensitivity isn’t something to overcome - it’s something to honour.

Try this at home: A simple ritual to meet your sensitivity

  1. Rub your hands firmly together for a minute. Take a few slow breaths as you do.

  2. Hold your palms apart and sense the space between them. Play with then energy.

  3. Offer this energy to a part of your body that feels tender or unacknowledged.

  4. Ask inwardly: “Sensitive one, what do you want me to know?”

  5. Let an image, word, or feeling arise. Don’t rush. Don’t fix. Just receive.

  6. Close by naming one piece of wisdom to carry into your day or week.

You are not too much. You are not weak.

Your sensitivity is not an inconvenience - it’s an invitation.
A path to presence. A source of intuitive truth.
A reminder that there is a deeper way to live, love, and lead.

Let’s give these parts the space they’ve always deserved.
Let’s ask the question.
Let’s listen in.
